Prepare for the Interview Beforehand
Never approach an interview without researching the company first. Otherwise, you risk appearing unprepared, inadequate, and uninterested. We recommend spending at least three hours learning about their products and services, primary competitors, and company culture. Glassdoor.com is a great website for acquiring much of this information.
Once you’ve studied the company, prepare specific questions about each of these areas that you can ask interviewers. This level of interest in the company will score you brownie points with recruiters. Remember, you want to show interest in the specific job opportunity and company you’re interviewing for. A job interview is not simply a conversation about your skills and abilities, so always do your research beforehand.
We recommend practicing your job interview skills. A mentor can help you with this. They should be familiar with the kinds of questions you will encounter during a real job interview. As further refinement of your skills, film yourself during these practice interviews and review your own performance. This might feel uncomfortable at first. Most people don’t enjoy watching themselves on video, but it’s the perfect way to refine your approach.
